Crochet an advanced Rose hacks for intermediate to advanced

Time: Aug 29 07:00 PM - 09:00 PM
Host: Marnie Franklin
Register: http://makeict.wildapricot.org/event-6287909
Price: MakeICT Members - $15.00
Price: Non-Members - $20.00
Ages: 12 to 100

The difference between my beginners rose and this advanced rose is learning some advanced techniques that will fuel your crochet from now on and give your shortcut Hacks to crochet FASTER With even more efficiency ( for example if you crochet a blanket or large item with a massive count of chain stitches like 40, 80, 100 you will be able to skip the chain stitch and crochet your entire first 2 rows in one fell swoop one and done)

We learn the FOUNDATION DOUBLE CROCHET which is a technique that teaches you how to crochet 2 rows within one row at the same time SO.... you will be making a foundation chain and a double crochet in one fell swoop and half to a fraction of the time it would take you to crochet two separate rows and the best part is this eliminates the need for crocheting into the chain stitch fumbling around with nothing to barely hold on to.

if you are beginner and know how to hold your yarn and crochet a single and or double crochet you can tackle this. If you are a complete beginner starting out your welcome to come try this and I will help you but you need patience and grit each student is different and If you want to start this way you are welcome it will teach you hacks from the beginning that will save you time if you're willing to get the hang of it but it is a backward hack that does stitch completely different than normal but saves time and every row thereafter would be back to the normal way.

#2 you will learn another hack called the turning double crochet which you can use in all crochet in future to have really beautiful straight edges and eliminate the ugly hole that the turning chain makes. I am in love with this hack, and you can apply it to any kind of stitch. I teach it to all my middle school highschooler crochet students in homeschool. It is one stitch disguised as another and with a clever stacking technique ...trust me you will thank me later

You will learn to create a crocheted Rose, we will be using basic stitches like CH ST= chain stitch, DC=Double Crochet, working in chain 2 spaces, single crochet But in this advanced rose class I will be teaching a foundation double crochet hack for base instead of chain stitch.

#3 I will be observing and teaching you tips tricks and hacks to advance you and aid in leveling you up as I see fit for each individual person.

#4 you will learn the rose making hack that allows you to crochet the leaves on the same row as the petals there fore not requiring you to make separately and ad on later it will just be done. SO BRING GREEN YARN as well as your flower color

You will get hands on help and tips and tricks to level up crochet during one on one observations
if you're unsure if your skill level can accommodate then text me with questions 316-573-2240, If you know single crochet and are ready to move on to intermediate this is a good chance, and I can work with you to learn double crochet stitch. If you don't know how to read patterns, I can teach you as this is simple pattern so I can teach quickly
This is an acceptable project for advanced beginner through advanced. COME be a part of a CROCHET COMMUNITY
You will get a choice between various stems green and ways to create a yarn stitched stem
I will be providing gluing to attach stems

You do not have to stay 3 hours I put 3 hours to allow time for settling in and checking in on the system, introductions, and then learning stem techniques

bring yarn, needle, scissors, anyhook sizes between #4, 4.5, and 5 if your beginner. if you are deciding to use tiny yarns like baby yarns, sport weight, fingering, cotton, please bring your small hooks to accommodate all these types of yarns are available in the textiles room but I prefer you use a dense size #4 yarn which are also available if you cant buy any.

Ceramics - Hand Building - Make a Tray or Plate

Time: Aug 08 06:00 PM - 08:30 PM
Host: Jennifer Cabala
Register: http://makeict.wildapricot.org/event-6252201
Price: MakeICT Members - $45.00
Price: Non-Members - $50.00
Ages: 12 and up

In this hands on pottery class participants will have the opportunity to make one 12" - 13" plate or tray, or two 6" - 7" trays. With my guidance you'll design and hand form your piece using the slab method.

Once your piece is constructed, you'll have the opportunity to decorate it using a variety of techniques - choose from texturing, carving, and painting with underglazes to bring your vision to life.

While your tray sets up for the application of underglaze (approx. 20 - 30 minutes of drying time), you'll also get to make a small round trinket plate or ring dish. These bonus pieces are perfect for experimenting with the decorating techniques you've learned.

After the session your pieces will remain in the studio to dry (about 3 -4 days) before being bisque fired. I will then apply a clear glaze and fire them a second time. Your finished creations will be ready for pickup in approximately 3 - 4 weeks, depending on drying time and kiln schedules. I'll notify you as soon as your items are ready.

All materials - including clay, tools, underglaze, and clear glaze are included in the class price.
