Still fairly new to the group here so if this a dumb question…
I have some computer equipment that I don’t need anymore and would like to donate to the computer lab, is it okay to just drop it off or do I need to go through someone first before I just hand it over?
Donations need approval from the area lead, in this case @james.a.seymour (ERP) or @jameslancaster (IT) and in most cases to go through Inventory @Ben.rogers (Inventory is primarily concerned when item values equal or exceed $50)
This is because we need to try to stay organized and as Makers we tend to want to hoard all kinds of potentially useful items, so someone has to stem the tide or we run out of room!
I have two computer monitors a 15" and a 17" that could be useful for extras in the computer lab. Who sets the value of these because I don’t care about the tax write off for them.
I also have a half height server cabinet that might be useful to keep server and networking equipment contained in one area. I got it for free and am willing to just hand it over if you guys are needing it.
Awesome, @james.a.seymour@jameslancaster@Ben.rogers I have two computer monitors a 15" and a 17" that could be useful for extras in the computer lab. Who sets the value of these because I don’t care about the tax write off for them. I also have a half height server cabinet that might be useful …
@Tobias778@Malissa Since it is a fairly bulky item, would you prefer to meet up at where I have it stored so that we can cut out the middle? We can arrange through email a good time to for you to pick up if you like.
He didn’t like that he wasn’t finished. So I took another pic. The red box is a fire wall, he hasn’t been able to get it to work yet . That’s his goal for tomorrow. The server was password protected, he found a workaround to get in the system and change the password, but the full server isn’t functioning.
Thanks, @mikeb I probably will not see him all weekend. I was getting text when he was in coding today his classmates helped him find some other part he wanted on ebay. A year ago he was playing with Raspberry Pi.
