Entryway lights

Looking for a couple of people who are willing to replace the bulbs in the entryway lights. I scrounged up 4 bulbs and put them in a box in the SW corner of the garage (the left corner as you walk in the door). Please do not throw away the box.

Volunteers would need to setup the scaffolding and put the ladder on top of that to reach the lights.

If someone can take it upon themselves to make this happen, Joe and I would appreciate it.

Considering the difficulty in accessing the fixture could we upgrade to LED bulbs? LED has a potential life span of 10 years and newer versions don’t require bypassing the ballast.

As a maintenance man my self I would suggest the swap to LED! That was previously stated! You guys buy them by the box. I will happily install them! Even if we are to purchase LED that need to be wired I can do that as well! Just let me know where help is need facility wise! I should be able to help!

I believe we have a plan to convert to LED after depleting our existing stock (or maybe even before?), it will just take a while as it takes about 600 bulbs for the entire space.

Yes, there is a plan to do the conversion to the rest of the building. All but a couple of lights in the hallway have already been converted to LED. We do not have bulbs at this time to put in those, I am 99% sure they have not been converted due to the same reasoning that we did not want to mess with it at that time. The request was to get them lit back up as the entry way is very dark. If they need to be converted at this point, then we would need to delay until we order the bulbs next month. At present, the plan was to get them lit back up and worry about the conversion down the road.

Has anyone checked to see if this is a safe way to do this? i spoke with my osha person for the city and she says placing an a-frame ladder on top of a scaffold is an osha violation. i dont think makeict’s insurance would cover this should someone get injured.

fyi

as for LED conversions, ive done 100’s of them for the city. I have pics of the harnesses i build(single bulb and double bulb) that i can share with you if anyone is interested.

I didn’t have to reference OSHA to know that putting a ladder on top of scaffolding is a bad idea. Add to that, MakeICT has a bakers scaffold, not a “real” scaffold and there’s nothing about it that screams good idea! Thank you for pointing out the liability aspect of this.

If they are the light I think they are I believe you could use a 10ft ladder possible a 8 ft would work. I have a 8ft I could use to do this but no way to get it to make ict.

I would say retrofit to led. Also never put a ladder on top of scaffolding. Extremely dangerous at any height.

Feit has an absurdly high failure rate across its products. GE is my go to.
