I apologize if im wrong but small tools and consumable items do not need any special inventory but larger equipment must be approved and accounted into inventory in a donation case. for reimbursement i think prior approval is required.

My understanding would be that no matter what is being donated it’s best to notify the area lead. As was done here. There may be reasons to reject some donations that the donor isn’t aware of. ( Might include lack of space, unsuitability, or burden of keeping up with sorting, or labelling requirements, etc)

All tools and equipment should be inventoried and tracked (and accounted for when sold, given away or discarded).

Anything that the donor wants a receipt for, whether consumable or not requires following the donation policy on the wiki.

Anything that is going to be reimbursed requires prior arrangement.

Some of these rules are to avoid unwanted or even hazardous items which have created issues in the past.

Reporting inventory (and disposition) of assets is required to comply with IRS rules. Same reason for items with receipt requested.

Reimbursement comes out of budget lines and if not tracked becomes difficult to plan for future needs.

Rusty said its ok. There is 150 and 180 grit emery cloth by red toolboxes on old compressor tank.
Also put 5 used phillips screwdrivers in drawer.

I would like to remind users that if abrasives are used at the lathe, the ways should be covered to prevent the abrasive from getting embedded in the ways or the carriage and causing wear. Also, the lathe should be cleaned well after using abrasives for the same reason.
