Electronics Area Meeting May 31 4:00 PM

The Electronics Lab will have an Area Meeting on Sunday, May 31st at 4:00 PM in the Electronics Lab. Anyone with an interest in this area is invited and encouraged to attend.

Possible discussion items include:

  • The schedule for future area meetings,
  • Leadership of the area,
  • The cleaning needs of the space,
  • Space needs of users and projects in the lab, and
  • Other topics that those in attendance might add.

Feel free to also share items you would like to see covered as comments here. We really welcome and need your thoughts and ideas.

I feel it is critical that we get the space organized. There has been a history of accepting questionable equipment and storing it randomly on table-tops that are intended to be workspace. It’s almost embarrassing to have people come into the space and see the mess. There is equipment laying around in various states of disrepair, there is equipment laying around that doesn’t appear to have been touched in a year or more. We are seeing more and more activity in the area with the recent addition of the Amateur Radio Club Station to the room. The clutter needs to go.

I recently took a prospective member into the room to show them the “Ham Station”, and while we were going out the person said, “What was all that dirty crap laying around? How do you work in there?” I had no answer except to say, “I do my best to keep the Ham area straightened up…”

I hope we can come to a resolution at the meeting next Sunday (5/31).
