Before I go and buy one, to use on the 3-4 55gal steel drums I will be opening in my lifetime. I wanted to see if anyone had one I could borrow.
Before anyone suggests saw all, plasma cutter, hacksaw, air chisel, This had a solvent in it and I do not want to risk sparks and I do not have any at my house.
I thought about building one, but I would rather spend my time and money on the project I want to use the drum for.
I don’t but it is around $50 online , not bad if you will use it often. If it’s a one or two time deal I would possibly use a grinder without cutting trough. Just to get a thin wall to cut with chisel and leave in the sun let fumes out. Could put some water in it maybe then cut with grinder. I’ve done propane tanks only not those though.
if you dont mind the mess, fill it completely with soap and water then use a grinder, cut off wheel, or plasma. If you are feeling crafty, you could probably make the tool good enough to get a few uses out of it
