Dogs in the space

I’ve reviewed the forums and wiki and have found no new info. The old info i found from 2018 dogs were allowed. I just wanted to make sure this has not changed as long as owner and dog are respectful of the space.

The dog may be required to sign a waiver.

It is a requirement for other members.

I dont think they were ever allowed in ceramics due to ingesting ceramic dust that might get on thier paws and fur and then licked off. Just a health thing

We do have at least one member who uses a service dog, and it’s never advisable for dogs on leash to greet each other (entanglement risk can cause major problems), so just make sure your dog doesn’t interfere with other dogs.

I also agree that some areas aren’t terribly safe for the dog - like ceramics, woodshop with power equipment running, and the hot metalshop. Garden regularly has canine visitors, and there are two water dishes and some poop bags under the pavilion.

The quieter of my two dogs sometimes attends meetings when it’s too hot to leave her in the car on my way home from work. The Basset hound would contribute entirely too much conversation :joy:

Just me and my wacky point of view,

Why would any work area be appropriate for a dog ? Dogs which have human responsibilities obviously excused. It just makes sense to not permit dogs there for everyone’s safety.

Public area, class rooms, lounge, outdoors would seem to be the areas which would be the friendliest to four legged furries.

I’m also not seeing a problem, I’m a cat person.

I love dogs so I don’t have an issue with them in the space. Certain departments they should not go in, ceramics is one. There is Silica in Ceramics. It is bad for humans to breath in. Silica gets in your lungs and acts the same as cement. It’s way worse for dogs because they get their information through smell. Their noses are going the second they are in the space.
