How much space should be between each piece being cut and left around the edge/border of the material?
i usually leave as little space as possible between the pieces… usually just one or two of whatever the units are that lightburn moves. (It makes it much easier to break the scraps. I also will put a box or similar shape around the whole part to make it easier to remove as well.
Any guess at what those 1 or 2 units might equate to in inches or even millimeters?
It’s a tiny amount… not inches… maybe mm.
The distance between pieces can be 0. You might have a slightly thicker line if two pieces use the line (there’s a certain size the laser cuts.) 0.5mm is more than enough if you don’t want that happening, and before I dropped it, I think one of the last projects I worked on (Helping a friend with some snowflake designs) had maybe 0.5mm thickness on some parts, and held together just fine. (And even there only a single point broke off.)
Great! Thanks, James!
