I am developing a series of classes to meet the needs of the guitar building group. I will be offering them in early summer. I will continue to offer them on a rotating schedule if there is enough interest.
- Box Making Class, basic joinery - power tools
- Cutting boards, template routing - power tools
- Hand tool joinery - hand tools (focus on half lap, and in lays for acoustic guitars)
- Finishing work - focusing on spray finishes esp. shellac
I will publish a curriculum and set of learning objectives here for everyone, once I have it finished. The college’s semester is winding down, so I will have more time soon.
P.S. If anyone is interested I will also offer a furniture making course(s) with a focus on traditionally joinery - mortise tenon, half lap, dove tail etc. However, this comes with one very large caveat. I have not been able to find a set of decent quality chisels in the wood shop area. Some are so light the feel as if they are made of aluminum. Additionally, I have not been able to find marking gauges, knives and squares. Does anyone know where they might be located?
