That’s definitely not how it reads to me. More like the engineer brain always wanting to point out all the potential flaws. Personally I find it helpful.
But as for the gaps, it looks like the top fill is set to concentric rather than the default of rectilinear or monotonic. That pattern can cause gaps pretty easily.
