We have discussed cone 6 firings in the past and are ready to do one. The top two greenware shelves nearest the windows, will be where the glazed pieces will go for now, working on getting another shelf.
A few things to know:
- No “Speckled” clay and no calico.
- do not be in a hurry for the firing to get done, Will happen when I feel there is a full load, may not have any notice so get pieces in early and be patient
- Bisque as normal
- Research the clay and glaze you want to use
- Make sure bottoms are clean at least 1/8” up
- Leave a note as to what the glaze is and if you think it will run. Glazes that don’t run at cone 5 may run at cone 6.
If this goes well, may have a dedicated cone 6 shelf in the future using the same criteria.
