Does anyone know where to find fiber filled concrete in town? Trying to cast gnomes using printed hollow molds, and the hat keeps breaking off in the mold close to the tip. Thinner parts seem to be breaking off long before I demold.
Lowe’s has several, here’s one: https://www.lowes.com/pd/QUIKRETE-80-lb-High-Strength-Concrete-Mix/3026899
Home Depot appears to only list one brand and it’s out of stock: https://www.homedepot.com/p/SAKRETE-50-lbs-Crack-Resistant-Fiber-Reinforced-Concrete-Mix-65205002/31742088
For $10, you can buy 1 pound of the fiber and add it yourself. 1 pound is enough for one cubic yard of concrete which would be a lot of garden gnomes. Here’s the listing at Lowe’s: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Bon-Tool-1-lb-Anti-Crak-Concrete-Fibers/5005387617
It’s worth adding that using too much water is the most frequent cause of excessive shrinkage, resulting in cracking. The absolute minimum amount of water that gives a workable mix is always the recommendation for best results.
I looked at Lowes and home Depot. You have to order it.
Same for E.Wichita location.
