Would donated paint work? Provided it’s appropriate for the job? I know I have some old cans of spray enamel in red and yellow I’d be happy to get rid of. I might have some gloss house paints too. I could also use an excuse to go drop off some stuff at hazardous waste and go through their free goods area.
Best practice for floor markings around breaker panels is either black and yellow diagonal striped outline (preferred) or red and white. I don’t know whether the city of Wichita ordinances or state of Kansas statutes might be more specific.
Any specifications for the type of paint? I would think a gloss house paint or spray paint would do the job adequately unless there are other considerations.
As facilities has not done this and nobody else has committed to it, I will purchase the tape and mark the area in the woodshop and the rest of the roll can be passed around as needed. I’ll just submit the receipt and it can be reimbursed to me from the facilities budget.
The tape is pretty inexpensive but decals stating to keep the area clear are a bit pricier.
Would still be good to have a decal that says don’t put stuff here. (I might replace stuff with another word, so somebody else should probably source that decal.)
Also moved the cart from in front of the box in the hallway.
I left the remainder of the tape in the garage with the electrical supplies. There should be about 24 feet left.
Thank you Dave
Looks good, Dave! I think the paint would be better long-term, but this is a lot better than what we’ve had before, aka “nothing.”
It’ll also help when doing orientation tours, to point out where the breakers are.
