@curtis Sorry for the late response. The Thursday Night CAD is not so much a class, it is more an informal gathering. Attendance has been pretty low, so it is helpful if you are planning on attending that you post a message to ensure that someone will be there to help you out.

As for what it covers, that is pretty broad as well. @Jimmy is our Fusion360 guru. He can help you understand how to setup a job for any CNC machine in the building using Fusion360. @ssaner is a FreeCAD user, and can assist with that software if that is your thing. @ladeana is very skilled and is a good resource. She also teaches some intro classes on Fusion360 that are very useful learning the basics of the software.

If you have some specific questions, you can also post them, and someone can surely help you out.

Thanks. I posted earlier this evening that I can’t make this week. I was understanding that fusion 360 was what I had to use on the plasma CNC cutter. I will try again next week. Thanks for the info.

I didn’t know this, Steve S. Next time I have a question, I’ll look you up!

Howdy Howdy! I am very interested in getting authorized for Mario and Luigi… as well as the wood CNC machine (eventually I would love to use the plasma cutter, but I think these machines would be a good start) Where do I start, I currently am very well versed in Coreldraw and can create SVGs all day long… but I haven’t really played with CAD and I don’t know to what extent I need it or which software would be most beneficial to figure out.

Welcome!

For the laser cutters our next authorization class is Sunday 9/22 and there’s only one person signed up so get in there! We just use Inkscape in there, but Corel draw works, whatever 2d SVG thing you want.

For 3D I don’t know why more people don’t love Onshape like I do… it’s free and browser based so you don’t even have to install software, it’s so darn simple!
