Breakroom Thermostat Settings

Twice now I have come into the Breakroom and found the Thermostat set to Fan On.
Please leave the setting on Auto.
If you don’t understand why please inquire below and I will explain.

Would it be beneficial to consider replacing with a “smart” thermostat or put a plastic case around it since this thermostat controls vital infrastructure?

It’s been hanging like that for 5 years and it’s been fine, just need it to be left alone or switched back to Auto.
I suppose we can look at a more secure option if it’s truly necessary.
I think it’s likely that the Thermostat was switched to Fan ON to circulate air without switching on the condenser which is understandable, but if it’s left on (no one was present both times I observed it) then it consumes electricity perhaps without benefit. A more advanced thermostat might be a good solution but I don’t know that we want to put the thermostat behind a locked box.

I will state that the president office doesn’t get the best air flow so can become stale and more humid so I usually in the wet months leave it to run to move air in the office.

Perhaps we should look into a thermostat that has a function for regular air cycling, like it turns the fan on and off at regular intervals for a predetermined amount of time.
