Big gay market June 4th MakeICT table

I will be at the space Monday evening at 7 until around the end of Maker Monday. I can be available Tuesday during the day or in the evening, I’m only busy between 4 and 7.

James called me today and we had a lovely chat! They’re actually going to waive our table fee which is really nice, and the tax/insurance stuff isn’t a requirement although as sherry said if you’re an individual seller you do need to pay your own taxes. But the market is expected to have a great turnout this year so this will be very good for MakeICT!

It is the first weekend of riverfest but hey, go to that Saturday then go to this Sunday.

I am making a sign up form for anyone who’d like to help or sell things. I’m not sure what our consignment policy is on off-site events, for those who want to sell things would the normal 20% commission be fair?

Two weeks until the market!

@Events could you add this to the calendar, and link to the FB event: ICT Big Gay Market

And to the form in my last post for anyone who’d like to sit at the booth and sell their wares?

@michelle Insurance is not mandatory. @Teya awesome, fill out the form! @gemma are you joining us? @KRABBIT I added shifts to the form @Jhuie It’s okay if you don’t have things to sell, come hang out with us and tell folks about MakeICT! Or just bring examples!

Two weeks away?! Yikes, that snuck up on me. Mentally I’m still in March lol. I won’t have a lot of stuff ready by then, but I’ll plan to bring what I have. Thanks for the reminder.

@Communication there used to be a big box of tri-fold flyers in the office but I couldn’t find them - any ideas? are there flyers or sign designs I could send out? I tried looking around google drive but only found old stuff, I might not have a lot of the same access I used to have.

We handed out lots of the trifolds at the Renaissance Festival so there might not be many left. The trifold file is in the Membership drive, but the information does need some small updates to be current.

I can’t even find that drive… you know, handouts are overrated. I’ll borrow the big banner and tell people feel free to take photos.

If anyone likes making signage, we could use a new round of “hang up in the breakroom” type printables with photos of the new space, I’ll put it on my list of possible things to do but it’ll be a while. Everything I found on any drives was all old space.

The tri-folds might be in one of the tubs with all the renaissance stuff in the lounge.

I think we had a few left, and I was fairly certain that there was still a bundle or two of flyers under the display cabinet in the welcome area.

Flyers are a bit old school. Maybe a PDF attached to a qr code they can scan?

There were still some in the Renaissance tubs. Thanks @rustin.atkeisson

I put them under the display cabinet in the Welcome Center. People sure do love taking them, so making more for future events is probably a good idea.

@SteveO can we put updating these and making more on the agenda for the next Membership Committee meeting?

What’s the plan for setup? Do you need help with that?

… and should I plan to help with tear down?

I am in my powerchair, so I make the perfect human wheelbarrow. I just might get crabby after a couple of hours of sitting. [Its a pain or discomfort thing, often ameliorated by just being social, or trying to anyway].

The crabby human wheelbarrow.

Actually, I suppose I should try to arrive earlier than noon in case i have to park farther away and roll farther to get to our table. Im not very good at guessing about handicap parking at such venues. Its ok to presume the worst sometimes. [None].

You’re welcome to come out! Nobody’s helping with the 2-4/tear down shift - although setup and tear down are very minimal. I have a table, we’re in the shade so not bringing a tent.

Just FYI anyone selling things at our table must sell on your own. MakeICT is taking donations but not dealing with the tax/card reader sorts of ideas. We’ll have a Venmo QR or something a donation jar.

If you guys need help/relief I’m set up on the other side. Come and grab me if needed.

We had an amazing day!

Thank you @Teya @gemma and @Selggig for helping out! We got to tell a LOT of people about MakeICT… it was the usual mix of “I’ve never heard of this but it sounds incredible” to “I’ve been meaning to go” - I had a paper with our next Maker Monday and people took photos of that to remind themselves to go on June 12. We had a donation jar out and took in about $80 in small bills so I just rounded that up and sent it to our paypal. I also left some of the laser cut flags on the “free” table… I have QUITE A FEW more! If anybody has a group that’d like a pride coloring night, hit me up!

That was an awesome event. We got there a little late but soon enough to eat, buy some things and look around. Still crowded at close. Wonderful venue. Look forward to next year. I will be better prepared by then.
