The past couple of times I’ve used the belt sander, it has been badly adjusted. The belt should track in the middle of the platen. If it does not, it should be adjusted. The knob that sticks out from the side adjusts the tracking. Turn it slowly with the machine on until the belt runs in the middle of the platen.
