Art Projects Around MakeICT

I know James and I have tossed around making a giant robot for the courtyard in the past, but i’m curious, what other art projects have people thought about getting into at the makerspace that involve something that might stay with or be a part of the space?

I’ve heard of a few people wanting to do murals, but what other creative ideas are out there that might help other makers into a more creative mindset?

Maybe some kind of windmill? I really like the idea of a kinetic sculpture.

K-State had some concrete sculpture classes back in the late 60s-70s and they still have some of the work from that around campus (including a giant spork!). It’d be cool if we could sculpt M a k e I C T in big letters spread out along Mt. Vernon but not sure if the city would like that.

ETA: With respect to murals, I’d love to see something replace the ceiling tiles throughout much of the space, and murals anywhere along the south hallway. They don’t have to be super complicated (and we don’t have to act like they’re permanent).

The mural(s) would probably be the lowest hanging fruit. Imo several gallons of dry erase paint and a few sets of dry erase markers would be a fun mural that could always change.

Yeah, there’s a building along Douglas next to the old pocket park where they did that for years and rotated a question each month. Not a mural per say but also something that takes up wall space haha

Hmm… what do you guys think of using that grey wall meant for the gallery and using that for a different mural once a quarter?
