About the Letterpress category

This category is for topics of interest to the Letterpress Shop. We will be setting up over the next month or two with the following equipment:

  • Heidelberg 10x15 Platen Press (Windmill)
  • Vandercook Proof Press
  • Electric Paper Folder

We hope to add much, much more over the coming months. We’re currently looking for:

  • Electric Paper Cutter
  • Type and Type Cases
  • Galley Racks and Galleys
  • Composing Sticks
  • Leading and Furniture
  • Additional Chases for the Windmill
  • Padding Press
  • Book Press
  • Paper Stock
    Donations of Inks, Solvents, and Oil for the Windmill

Is this still a thing? I may have Cooling oil? and ink around 100gallons of each

Honestly, we’re still unsure of how to utilize the tool and space. I’ve neglected to learn how to use it properly and keep forgetting to get in touch with the former lead to learn more. If anyone other than David Springs knows how to safely operate and/or maintain the press, I’d be happy to learn.

I’ll check with David again, too see when he’s available to meet.

We may also consider using the space for a different tool, depending on what members want.
