3d scanner?

Do we have one?

There are a few apps available for IPhones 12 and up that do a very good job of 3d scanning.

If MakeICT has one, odds are it’s broken, no one knows where it’s is or no one knows how to use it.

I’ve tried a few apps and they only work for larger things. Small things don’t come out right or are missing detail. I’ve looked at maybe getting a spinning tripod for my phone to spin around it but from what ive read it will still be missing the detail a better not phone scanner will have.

It’s late.
I’ve used one on my phone, of course it’s a paid app. It seems to work well for me on small items.

I’lll post details in morning

Dont mind paying for something that works, Thanks!

There was a 3d scanner donated last evening. It should be in the Fab Lab in a black Creality case. I don’t know much else about it.

I’ve tried Polycam and ScandyPro.

Polycam worked the best for me. It’s subscription based so you’ll have to decide how much you will use it.

You will need a 3d Mesh Editor to clean up the scan. Meshmixer works for me.

What a coincidence!

You may have to bring your item to MakeICT to scan.

My experience is you cannot borrow hardware.

This is the model that was donated: CR-Scan Lizard 3D Scanner - Creality 3D

We haven’t set anything up yet, but we could take a look at it tomorrow evening.

We also have an old Kinect that we’ve used to scan things, but it’s not good for fine detail.

Do we still have this 3D scanner? I didn’t see it included on the FabLab Wiki and was curious if it is still around. Thanks!

I’ve never seen it, but I personally have a CR-Scan Otter I’m willing to lend out under supervision depending on what you’re looking to do. Feel free to DM me for more details if you’re interested!
