Wood shop jointer

I went in the other day and the jointer would not start up.
is there a trick to it? or was it not working for a time?

Did you try rotating the stop knob a little? When it’s activated it’ll keep it from turning on; rotate it a bit and it’ll pop out and then you can start the machine. BTDT

yeah i did turn the stop knob

I’ve been out of town. Will be in on Saturday to check it out. Sorry for the trouble!

I walked in to the stop knob being broken off, I am not sure what to do.

You can stick the knob in and rotate it as if it was attached. The center of the switch will still depress to turn off the jointer. I had thought Aaron was going to install a better switch. That style of switch is really meant to be used on rare occasion as an e stop but for whatever reason they decided to design it in as a regular stop switch.

Lol, fixed it and forgot to update.
I don’t know why they put these style off switches on jointers, but entertaining an upgrade would seem completely appropriate after the two replacements break (and I’m sure they both will eventually!).
