Survey topics

Makers - last year we sent out a big mega-survey after the new board was elected so we could collect feedback on what we needed to focus on. I’d like to do that again.

Questions to go on the survey:
What’s your favorite thing about MakeICT?
Is there anything you’d change?
Is there any place you’d like to help out with, but haven’t figured out how?
What should the leaders of MakeICT be focusing on this year? - Rate these items by importance:

  • Getting a new building
  • Improving our existing building
  • Bylaws & policy cleanup
  • Fundraising
  • Connecting with other Wichita organizations
  • Improving classes
  • Membership growth
  • Membership retention
  • Volunteer engagement
  • Other
    Anything else?

Okay so the point of this thread is NOT to start answering questions but to figure out what else to ASK or put on that board priority list. What do you want to ask all members, board members what would help you understand what to focus on?

Labeling things and creating instructions for things.
Cleaning and organizing.
Fixing broken things.
Improving the classroom.
Getting better computers.

Could we see if one of the universities could help us with this? There are several city surveys of maker spaces listed in Maker City and it would be good to have a formal report. That would help us with grants, incentives, and new building stuff.

The book says it better

I’m going to just send this one out, hopefully with a newsletter this weekend.

I do want to have more surveys. An on-purpose election/voting survey would be a good idea after the town hall to reach more people. The economic development survey is a good one too. This one is just to give the board some focus and give members a chance to say their piece.
