Somebody mentioned to me the other day that the lid interlock on the red laser cutter was bypassed so the lid can be opened while it is cutting and it does not disable the laser like it should. This seems like a serious safety concern for which the machine should be locked out until fixed. Is fablab leadership aware of this? Is there a plan to fix this? Should we lock out the machine until it’s fixed? If not, what reason?
If a safety is bypassed then my assumption is the machine is operating unsafely. Make safely is one of da rules. Probably need to put it out of service until it’s addressed in my humble opinion.
Has anyone checked to see if this was manually bypassed, or is it a malfunction? In either case operating it without the safety mechanism is definitely an unsafe situation. I would second the motion that the machine should be red-tagged until that is corrected.
Lock it down/disable it/take its power souce if safety is compromised. Liability issue.

I came and took a look at Mario the red laser today. The laser did not fire went open even if I started it with it closed. As soon as it detected it was open it stopped. Also if there is an issue in Fab web or another area please tag them like the following. @FabLab
