I do set design for a local youth theatre and I wanted something that stood out when we did Elf: The Musical. In one of the scenes they are in Central Park near the huge tree that they always have in NY. So I went out and found an stl I could modify to print on my 3d printer and came up with this:
There are 19 points FDM printed in translucent filament attached to a SLA printed dodecahedron with two 12v super bright LEDs for each point, yes that is 38 LEDs with twice as many wires coming out that small hole towards the back you see in the pic!
Here is what it looked like on stage with the rest of the tree lit up. I stupidly did not get a picture of it while it was staged in its scene!
