Monthly Ceramics Dept. Meeting

Hello fellow Potters,

I happened to be in studio one evening last week and ran into Mike S. We had great conversation about various things like kiln ops and the studio in general. At the end, we agreed it would be nice to encourage a periodic get-together sometimes to facilitate communication between us ceramics department folks, meet each other, talk about what we’re working on, and just share thoughts about pottery in general and our studio space.

Being relatively new to MakeICT, I don’t even know most of the people who frequent the ceramics studio, but I often enjoy seeing your work on the window ledge!

You may have noticed that the MakeICT calendar has a long-standing monthly re-occurring event on the 4th Sundays at 6:00 pm entitled “Ceramics Dept. meeting”. I’d love it if a bunch of pottery folks could swing by 6pm on fourth Sundays, if for no other reason than l’d just like to meet more of you! I think it would be fun just to chat for a while with other potters, share ideas, and collaborate on current happenings in the Studio.

The next one is coming up on 6/23. No formal agenda is planned, and it wouldn’t necessarily have to involve food or drink, but it could if we were so inclined! See you in the Studio.

I’ll be there on the 23rd. @Russ @Thad it would be great if one or both of you can make it.

@SerenaOden-Powers My read on the calendar events is that the Tuesday Ceramics nights are intended to be more of an instructional setting for any potter(s) who’d like a bit of introductory guidance or coaching, whereas the Sunday once per month event is described as a meeting / social gathering for the Ceramics department.

Anyone can show up for a Tuesday Ceramics night, but if they desire help or guidance, they need to contact @Russ directly so he can come in for that, or post a message in @Ceramics and maybe someone would show up to answer questions or help out.
