I stopped in to see if I would be able to fit a long work piece in the Logan lathe. When I pulled the collet adapter out of the spindle, there was a lot of swarf in the taper. Before inserting the collet adapter it is necessary to clean the taper. Failing to do so will cause runout in the collet. Worse, it can damage the taper in the spindle which will cause future work to not run true. If you aren’t sure how to properly use the equipment in the shop, ask questions.
