Hamsters

LIFESIZE WINTER WHITE HAMSTER

From Runo’s pattern: Nuno life: Hamster

I want a hamster but I don’t want to take care of one.

The fur is mostly clipped but it’s still a featureless white blob. Needs coloring, restuffing, finishing touches, and, of course–a face.

It’s cute already, even without the extra features.
You’re really good at making cute little critters.

It just needs ears and nose.

Looks so cute!! I’ll be up this evening and bring you those noses. I’ll find a place to stash them if you aren’t there.

Finished! Next I’ll work on a Syrian hamster.

FEMALE LONGHAIRED SYRIAN HAMSTER
From a pattern by Christine Wilde (Plüschhamster)

This took forever because, having only seen babies at the pet store, I significantly underestimated the size of an adult Syrian hamster and had to reprint the pattern to start over after nearly finishing my first attempt.

At 6 1/2" long from nose to rear, she’s actually on the small size.

And why is she specifically female? Because the fur I have is too long for a normal hamster, but male longhaired Syrian hamsters look like this:

Testosterone affects their fur length, so females with the longhair gene are just a little bit fluffier than normal, while males look like dust bunnies.

Another great little critter Liam.
You keep going on them and you’ll have a zoo full of animals before long.
That’s really interesting about the fur length.
Nice job again!
