Two-way Radio Committee Open Operating Session

This operating session is for anyone interested in two-way radio communications to come to the Electronics Lab during Maker Mondays to get the operating to meet with others and demonstrate two-way radio communications and learn more about radio.

The Metalshop Safety Class will cover basic safety for working in both the Hot room and Cold room for the Metalshop at MakeICT, as well as some basic expectations. The following tools will be covered :
Pipe bender
Tubing roller
Metal shear
Large and small sheet metal brakes
Drill press
Hand grinders
Horizontal band saw
Vertical band saw
Chop Saw
Other equipment not listed may require further authorization. This class is required before taking most other metalworking classes or workshops.
Safety glasses are available but we recommend bringing your own if you can.

Open Lab time for authorized Glaziers. Instructor will be available if individual help is required.

Also, if you are an experienced Glazier and want access to the tools and glass without taking the Introduction to Stained Glass course, authorizations may be performed during open lab times. Instructor will cover safety requirements, tool usage, and a skills assessment for a particular skill level. Successful completion of an authorization will add the Glazier to the authorized user list.


Use of tools and/or materials without proper authorization is prohibited.

This class will cover equipment, procedures, processes and safety of powder coating at Make ICT. We will powder coat an item and completion of this class will authorize you to use the powder coating booth and equipment.

Laser Cutting Basics

Learn to use the 80 watt CO2 laser cutters at MakeICT. We will discuss the capabilities of the machines, safety rules, and operation in flat mode. Participants will complete a small project using Inkscape and LightBurn software.

Intermediate computer proficiency is recommended. Users should be comfortable with web browsing, Windows file folder navigation, copy and paste shortcut keys, and mouse operation.
