Ceramics - Coil Building - Make a vessel of your choice
Time: Jan 17 06:00 PM - 08:30 PM Host: Jennifer Cabala Register:http://makeict.wildapricot.org/event-6515659 Price: MakeICT Members - $45.00 Price: Non-Members - $50.00 Ages: 12 and up
In this hands on pottery class you will make a ceramic vessel of your own design using the coil building method. This versatile technique allows you to make a wide range of functional and decorative pieces - such as planters, vases, desk organizers, jars, and more.
This will be a 2 session class, unless you elect to have the instructor glaze your piece.
During the first session, you'll build your vessel from start to finish. Along the way we'll explore a variety of decoration techniques, including carving and adding sculptural or decorative elements to your work.
The 2nd session (glazing) will be held on specified Wednesday and Friday evenings. These are informal sessions available within a 2 hour timeframe. You are free to attend the glazing session that works best with your schedule.
After the first session, your piece will remain in the studio to dry (about 4 -5 days) and then bisque fired. Once bisque is complete, it will be ready to glaze. I'll send notification when your piece is ready to glaze and provide the glaze session schedule at that time. If you choose to have me glaze, your finished creations will be ready for pickup in approximately 4 - 6 weeks, depending on drying time and kiln schedules. I'll notify you as soon as your items are ready.
All materials - including clay, tools, glaze, and underglaze are included in the class price.
Join the Security group for our meeting discussing Makerspace security. All makers are welcome to attend. Anyone who is interested in joining security has a special invitation and you can learn the process to go through to join our group.
