Also, if you are an experienced Glazier and want access to the tools and glass without taking the Introduction to Stained Glass course, authorizations may be performed during open lab times. Instructor will cover safety requirements, tool usage, and a skills assessment for a particular skill level. Successful completion of an authorization will add the Glazier to the authorized user list.

Metalshop Safety Class

The Metalshop Safety Class will cover basic safety for working in both the Hot room and Cold room for the Metalshop at MakeICT, as well as some basic expectations. The following tools will be covered :
Pipe bender
Tubing roller
Metal shear
Large and small sheet metal brakes
Drill press
Hand grinders
Horizontal band saw
Vertical band saw
Chop Saw
Other equipment not listed may require further authorization. This class is required before taking most other metalworking classes or workshops.
Safety glasses are available but we recommend bringing your own if you can.

Learn the basics of 3D printing and how to use the printers at MakeICT!

We'll cover how 3D printing works, materials used in 3D printing, importing 3D files into slicer software, and important techniques for successful printing. Each participant will get a chance to practice with the software and print a small object to take home. Sample models will be provided, but participants may also bring in an STL file of a small (~3cm3) object to try out.

Completion of this class will grant authorization for using the 3D printers at MakeICT.

Interested in crafting a handwritten letter with a personal touch this Valentine's season? Jae Lear is instructing a session focused on writing a note and sealing it with wax at this MakeICT workshop!

Regardless of your age or skill level, this hands-on class will give you all the materials you need to make a unique letter for a Valentine. Lear Heath Studio will provide all the supplies for writing, decorating, and sealing your letter. With numerous wax stamp designs and a spectrum of wax bead colors, attendees will get to customize their project to fit their loved one.

Join us from 6-7:30pm on Wednesday, February 5th, 2025, for our Wax Sealed Valentines event at MakeICT (5920 E Mt Vernon, Wichita, KS 67218).

This class will be taught by a member of the South Kansas Woodturners. This week we will turn a working ink pen project that you can take home and show to your friends and family. Join Shawn Neumann, member of SKW.

Class fees cover everything required (ink pen kit, wood pen blank materials, all specific tools needed and instruction).

We wear Protective Face Shields (Safety) when turning. Dust or Cloth Masks are optional.

Kid Friendly, requires Parent with those under 16.

Learn the basics of vinyl cutting and how to use the vinyl cutter at MakeICT! We'll cover how vinyl cutters work, how to convert vector files for cutting, and how to prepare and apply vinyl decals. Each participant will practice with the software and cut at least one single color vinyl graphic to take home. Vinyl and example files will be provided, but participants may also bring in a vector graphic of their own (subject to review) to try out.
