Perfect class for those who have purchased a Cricut Maker and those thinking about purchasing a Cricut Maker! Class is scheduled for Saturday, December 14th (1000am to 1230pm). Learn various intermediate software techniques for a Cricut Maker3 in a hands-on learning environment. We will create a more complex project together from start to finish just in time for the holidays! It is highly recommended that you bring your own laptop to class. If you do not have a laptop, please email me at gprofitbusiness@gmail.com as soon as possible. We have a few extra laptops at the location that can be utilized.
Also, please download a FREE software called Cricut Design Space on your laptop BEFORE class regardless if you have purchased a Cricut machine. This software is necessary for the class. All supplies will be provided.

Wood Lathe Safety Authorization Class

Required Authorizations: Woodshop

Plan on about 2.5 hours for the Lathe Safety Authorization Class. Much of the information will be covered quickly, with handouts available. Key pieces of safety will be hands on with examples to hold and examine, and an opportunity for you to use the tools on a workpiece to make some of the things we discuss.

This class wiil be in the 2nd Room of the wood shop.

Safety issues will include:

- Basic Lathe Checks before turning it on.
- PPE for Turning and safe clothing around spinning wood or other material
- An introduction to safe tool usage for Carbide Tools and Traditional Tools with basic information on sharpening.
- Introduction to Mounting Methods for safely attaching the workpiece to the Lathe.
- Wood Selection, considering safety and where the wood is from. We will address the MakeICT Hazardous Material Policy and the
implications for woodturning. This would include working with damaged wood, such as spalting, bark inclusions and worm holes.
Additional PPE considerations and products to address various damaged wood issues.
- We will touch on safety while sanding on the lathe.
- We will touch on safety and choices of finishing products for turned items.

A Test Out Form of this Authorization Class is available.

Class size will vary based on the number of experienced SKW Members available to assist.

Woodshop Safety Authorization is Required
Woodshop Hazardous Materials Authorization is highly recommended.

This safety class will cover the basic operation of the industrial sandblaster in the metalshop.

This class will cover how to setup and shutdown the machine, as well as general dos and don'ts. Also covered will be what materials can and cannot be used in the sandblaster.

The Metalshop Safety Class will cover basic safety for working in both the Hot room and Cold room for the Metalshop at MakeICT, as well as some basic expectations. The following tools will be covered :
Pipe bender
Tubing roller
Metal shear
Large and small sheet metal brakes
Drill press
Hand grinders
Horizontal band saw
Vertical band saw
Chop Saw
Other equipment not listed may require further authorization. This class is required before taking most other metalworking classes or workshops.
Safety glasses are available but we recommend bringing your own if you can.
