This class grants authorization to use the laser cutter. The target
audience for this class is proficient computer users who have experience
with vector graphic design.
The following pre-work is required:

Review the “Laser Cutter” and “Designing for the laser cutter” pages on
the MakeICT Wiki. -
Create an image to use a a practice project in the class. Acceptable
file formats: *.png, *.jpg, *.jpeg, *.bmp, *.gcode, *.g, *.svg, *.dxf,
*.tap, *.gc, & *.nc. - we highly recommend SVG, which can have both raster
and vector components (a vector is needed to cut out an outline). Send the
file to kim@makeict.org at least 48 hours before the class. In the interest
of time, everything we cut in the class will be 10x10 cm or smaller in size.
If you’d like help with the pre-work, the Laser Cutting Basics workshop
guides users through creating a .dxf file using Inkscape. Please sign up
for a Laser Cutting Basics workshop instead of this one if you have limited
experience with computer graphics programs.
The price for this event is FREE for MakeICT Members and $5.00 for
Non-Members.
