The instructor for this class is currently employed as a Home Energy Auditor who tests and certifies Energy Star New Homes. He will discuss basic concepts of Home Energy Efficiency for the Home Owner. Insulation, Windows, Air Sealing and HVAC Equipment will be discussed. He will also cover how certain changes can affect other parts of your home, how heat transfers in heating and cooling seasons, including how heat transfer can cause pressure differences and moisture issues, and a discussion of Wichita/Sedgwick County Codes for Energy Efficiency and the various versions of the International Energy Conservation Code.
A large part of the session will be Q and A. Each house has individual problems and solutions.
