The object of this workshop is to build a small pine wooden step stool, kids size, to use to get a drink or to stand on to brush teeth. The steps are listed below. Painting/Staining would be done off site. This is an entry level workshop that will demonstrate use of several tools in the woodshop. A follow on workshop will be hosted in the future to make a rustic step stool.

  1. Cut a 2 x 8 x 8 ft to 16.00 long slabs.
  2. Use the thickness planner to cut down to 1.375 thick.
  3. Use the drill press to drill 4 holes on a compound angle. Fixture provided by me.
  4. Use the miter saw to cut 2 x 2 x 8 ft into 20.00 long legs.
  5. Use the lathe to round over both ends of 2 x 2.
  6. Use drill motor with tenon cutter to cut 1.00 round tenon on both ends of 2 x 2. Provided by me.
  7. Use miter saw to cut compound angle on center of 2 x 2.
  8. Sand and glue up stool. Glue requires 24 hours to set before moving.
