Learn the basics of 3D printing and how to use the printers at MakeICT!

We’ll cover how 3D printing works, materials used in 3D printing, importing 3D files into slicer software, and important techniques for successful printing. Each participant will get a chance to practice with the software and print a small object to take home. Sample models will be provided, but participants may also bring in an STL file of a small (~20cm^3) object to try out.

Completion of this class will grant authorization for using the 3D printers at MakeICT.

Is 3d printing something you’re able to “test out” on? I’ve printed a lot before and do at work, and am confident in my abilities to do basic printing with most software. I’m unfortunately not able to make this class.

Send me a message and we can probably work out a time. I recently updated the 3D Printing wiki page, so the workflow should be accurate. It should be enough to get you started with the software that we use. Let me know if you think there is any missing info.
