For some reason I can’t get Luigi to etch/fill successfully anymore. He cuts just fine though. I’m setting z to just under 7mm which I think is correct. I get just the barest of etches even when I increase the power or decrease speed.
Any thoughts as to what I might be doing wrong? Other than focal length and different version of lightburn, are there other differences I should be accounting for? He is firing as I do get a shadow of an etch.
These are existing files that I use on Mario just fine and have used on Luigi in the past.
Ahh good call. I have a min set because my design has a lot of points and I was getting tunneling, but I did set it based on Mario. The laser on Luigi may shut off earlier. I’ll run a min settings test on Luigi next time I’m up and run my job again with a higher min.
So Luigi seems to be happy with no lower than 10% min while Mario can go down to 7.5%.
Also, somehow I introduced a typo that was actually causing most of my issues. I wanted to reduce etch lines on the cell acrylic so I went to 0.09 interval instead of 0.1. Somehow when I was using Luigi I set it to 0.9 instead. With such a big interval it did make some pretty cool Roy Lichtenstein style pointillism etches though.
Oh also, I’ve learned that Min settings are good for designs with lots of stops or turns. At full speed it should run at Max, but as it slows down for turns and especially corners, it lowers the power so you don’t end up with tunneling and burning where it has to slow down.
