Embroidery Advice?

It’s no surprise that I’m in self-quarantine like everyone else. So, I decided to pick up a new hobby. I’ve ordered an embroidery kit from Amazon. It had different hoops, thread, and needles. Recently, I’ve started embroidering my Kanken backpack. Unfortunately, I’ve noticed that the needles kept breaking whenever I try to pass them through the fabric. The Kanken has a thick tarp-like material. Are there any heavy-duty needles I can order off of Amazon or Michaels? I just need recommendations for sturdy hand-sewing needles.

Look for millinery needles I personally like size 5 or 7. Just know the eye isn’t as big. Crewl work needles might be another option because it’s completed on thicker fabric.
