Anybody know anything about the server rack now in the Electronics Lab? I asked Kim and he does not know. If you can provide information, it would be appreciated. Thanks.
That’s an old RAID array storage system. I don’t know where it came from but we used to use them in server farms. Each slot would be populated with hard-drives (typically 256 GB but some were larger) That shelf would typically be a 1 Terabyte 1:4 redundant storage system. (RAID=”Redundant Array of Independent Disks”) It was (at the time they were in significant use) a “high reliability” system for mass storage of data.
Item identified. Thanks.
Just following up on this on behalf of Facilities. I assume the rest of the equipment in the garage also is going to move into Electronics? Is there an ETA for this?
Fair question Steve. I will defer to Kim Kirwan for a response as he was the point of contact on the donation and is Electronics Area Lead.
