Communications committee

I am interested in joining the committee although the next meeting date is not until march 27th and I was hoping to get some stuff going before then.

Is there anyone on the committee currently I could talk to about what we have setup for social media and the sign near the street?

Hi George! I am most recently the resigned Communications committee member who has been handling the socials for the makerspace. I had to resign because I’m moving soon! but its a pretty easy job if you know social media.

Things I had as responsibilities (some taken on myself and not necessarily asked of me):

●when people tag @Communication here on the forum, I’d check to see if it could be something to post on socials like flyers for classes or pictures from the makerspace
●if there are flyers or pictures, I’d post them on Instagram and crosspost from there to the FB page
●if its about a class, I also make an event from our page to help get the word out about it (people running the classes usually send you a description and a WildApricot link for registration you put in the event description and that’s really it. Just copy paste!)
●when at events I would try to take pictures to post, but if I wasn’t able to go I would make sure to message others while they are there to send some to me to post for them
●moderation things like blocking bots and spam from the pages. Those “YOUR PAGE WILL BE DELETED” bots are the most common ones I report, block, and delete.

That’s pretty much it, though I’m sure the committee will welcome your skills if they expand past that! @SerenaOden-Powers is the committee head so she can help you too.

If you’re up for helping paint a castle this evening, i can give you more detail and answer more questions about what goes on for communications, like for facebook and the newsletter.
