Apparently my mother didn’t put oil in her mower and blew a piston. Can anyone fix it relatively cheap?
Maybe when we get a bigger space we can have a Small Engine Repair area!
I wish someone would teach it before then, so I can help my mother out.
I hate to tell you this, but if it “blew a piston” the engine is
probably shot. You’ll probably need to simply replace the engine. I say
“simply” because that’s a relatively easy thing to do, but it might be
somewhat expensive unless you can find a used one. What kind of lawn
mower is it? Do you know any specs on the engine?
Steve
Unless it is a particularly valuable mower, they’re usually disposable when they’ve reached that stage. Like Steve said, you might be able to swap out the motor if it is a common size. New engines are available, but it is usually cheaper to find a replacement mower on sale if you want a new one, or at a yard sale for a used one. Engines start around $100 for a Harbor Freight, and go up from there.
Yeah I think y’all are right. It’s probably cheaper just to buy a new one.
There’s a very reasonable place just west and a bit south of Douglas that we’ve been very happy with. I just am not remembering the name.
