I think it is time we celebrated making! One of the things we did at the last instructors meeting was to brainstorm things we needed to improve. As brainstorming works, many of the things didn’t really fall under Instruction. But, one of the items resonated with me: 5th Monday Show and Tell.
The idea is we have a designated day and time to have any maker come up and show off some of the items that they have made.
As I understand it, this was what originally happened on Maker Mondays(before my time) … and then at one point moved just to months with a 5th Monday. 5th Mondays only happen a few times a year and no meetings typically are scheduled for them. Most people have Mondays free if they go to Maker Monday. (But unfortunately Monday is a day that I do not have free.)
Are there any folks who would be willing to help me with the two 5th Mondays we have this year? (If you can’t do Mondays, but are willing to help me… we could brainstorm some new dates.)
I especially like that the 5th Monday in October is the day before Halloween and we used to plan a get-together around then. Obviously the possibility of bringing a costume (and wearing it) that one made would be a simple way to participate and so could home made treats.
Oh you know what would be really cool? Making the cosplay fashion show that day as well! That way there will be more people in the crowd when the clothing makers walk the runway, plus incentive for people to stick around because of the multiple types of things to see!
